Dear MSP Parents,
Thank you for trusting your precious children to us! Every day brings new discoveries and adventures here at Mustard Seed Preschool. In Devotions, students have begun learning about their “first parents” - Adam and Eve. They will learn this week what the Covenant of Life is that God made with Adam. In two more weeks, we will begin talking about the sin of our first parents - “eating the forbidden fruit.” It creates some stimulating discussions with your children, for sure. I loved last week when a 5 year old told me that the white snowflake ornament in our mystery box reminded her that because of God we are “white as snow” because he forgives us. They really do “get it” in an amazing way. Ask your child’s teachers for many more details!
February at MSP is a fun time of year, with Hibernation Days on February 5/6 and then Roy’s Mobile Ark Petting Zoo coming with their critters later in the month. There are Valentine’s Day cards and parties in each class. Be sure to check your teacher letter for more details at www.mustardseedpreschool.com > classroom letters & news. You won’t want to miss out on any important details of your child’s classroom experience.
Grace & Peace,
Director, Mustard Seed Preschool
Other February Items:
Enrollment opens to Christ Community Church families February 1st. Please turn in your child’s application for 2013-14 soon if you want to have the best chance of getting your choice of days. It opens to the public on February 15th.
Some of you may have heard that our beloved Administrative Assistant and Registrar, Valerie See, will be stepping away from MSP at the end of March. We are thankful that she will be staying on for the next two months to train our newest hire, Sarah Hathaway, to take her place. Sarah will begin working alongside Valerie starting Monday Feb, 4th. More information to come on how you can show Valerie your appreciation, and also to welcome Sarah!
Other recent staff changes:
Traci Zegelien stepped in as Assistant Teacher of 5s in Ms. Emily’s room in November 2013. Traci comes to us with a wealth of teaching experience. She and her husband Paul are parents of a 5 year-old student here at MSP.
Leah Boonstra and Jen Moore have joined us as substitute teachers as well. We are so thankful for such a fabulous team of teachers and staff.
Safety Rules & Reminders
MSP has important safety rules in place for afternoon pick up.
PLEASE REMEMBER NO CELL PHONE USE during afternoon pick up in the car line. We cannot afford the risk of distractions with small children in a parking lot. Please turn it off when you come to the main pick up line.
PLEASE USE THE PLACARDS given in August to pick up your child in car line. If you have lost placard, please let Valerie know and she can print a new one for you. Valerie.firstname.lastname@example.org If you or your designated pick up person do not have a placard in their vehicle, they will need to park and come inside the rear entrance to our hallway for pick up. This is for your child’s utmost protection and safety.
HALLWAY AFTERNOON PICK UPS - Parents please remember and tell your relatives coming to pick up - for inside afternoon pick-ups you MUST enter via the Worship Center entrance near the Nursery desk of our wing. Parking for this is via the covered walkway in the rear of the church. This is for yours and your child’s safety, as we only need teachers walking in and out of the main entrance during car line time.
Our Advisory Board has been reviewing all of MSP’s safety procedures, including our lock down procedure. Each room is equipped with a lock down key and walkie-talkies. Please continue to pray for the safety and well being of each student and our school as a whole!
THANK YOU in advance for your cooperation with all of these important safety reminders!
