SEASONAL & CALENDAR EVENTS
Thanksgiving Feast
Easter Week
For the two weeks leading up to Easter, MSP’s devotions are geared to reflect the days leading up to Christ Crucifixion and Resurrection. The Triumphal Entry, Passover and then betrayal, crucifixion and resurrection are all reenacted for the students.
Devotions are held on the nature trail as these events are reenacted. Parents are invited to stay and in some instances participate in this reenactment. Some students will also have a chance to participate in these devotional times.
Christmas Program
This is a formal program put together with the participation of the students, guidance of the director and music teacher, and assembled by the help of the Christmas Program Committee of Friends of Mustard Seed. This event reflects the birth of Christ and the true meaning of the Christmas season. This event is fun for all and truly requires a great deal of parental involvement, during and before the event.
There will be a special love offering taken at the programs. Funds collected will benefit the scholarship fund.
Harvest Days
Each Fall, classes celebrate Harvest Days. Each class reads the classic children’s book Stone Soup which is all about community, and then make soup using a stone plus of course other delicious ingredients. That same day students will go out to the MSP Pumpkin Patch. They will walk the nature trail and happen upon the patch, and find their very own pumpkin with their glittery name on it. It is a fun day with many photo opportunities as well!
Ugly Bug Ball
To wrap up our Discovery units on all things creepy crawly, we celebrate with our Ugly Bug Ball! Students come to school dressed up as their favorite bug. We kick off our Ugly Bug Ball with a parade for parents, then students participate in interactive learning stations throughout the day focused on bug science. Stations include a Pollination Station, Entomology Lab, insect movement, and much more.
Hibernation Days
Wedding Feast of the Lamb
The Wedding Feast of the Lamb is the capstone event for our Fives program. Students end their year with a unit on Heaven, then celebrate the hope of Heaven with their teachers and parents at a pretend Wedding Feast complete with worship and cake!
